Ninjas in Pyjamas extend their partnership with Twitch in new deal

Ahead of the Easter Weekend last week, Ninjas in Pyjamas announced that the organisation has signed a contract extension to their exclusive streaming deal with Twitch. This will see NiP’s deal with the Amazon-owned streaming service extended for 18 months.

In revealing the deal, NiP’s CEO Hicham Chahine has said: “At Ninjas in Pyjamas, we value long-term partnership. And it is with this spirit we have decided to stay on Twitch with our live streaming content.”

“The agreement gives us the opportunity to reach our established streaming audience for the Ninjas in Pyjamas brand and all individual players, as well as giving the opportunity to grow on the platform as we seek to expand the Ninjas in Pyjamas teams and titles in the future.”

This will see the esports organisation’s CS:GO, Dota and Overwatch content exclusive to the platform.

Pontus Eskilsson, Twitch’s Partnerships Manager, EMEA, said: “Continuing our Partnership with Ninjas in Pyjamas was an easy decision for us given the immense support they have received from our community. As top-ranked players of one of the most popular games on Twitch, we look forward to continuing watching them wow our viewers.”

From a financial point of view, NiP has been successful, valued at around $12.5m by Swedish business site Breakit last year. In September 2016 the organisation agreed on a deal valued in “six figures” with Betway. Chahine recently came out to say that the organisations CS:GO players earn up to $230,000 a year, while the Dota players pull in $116,000.

The deal is a much-needed win for Twitch, especially after Youtube unveiled in January that they had agreed an exclusive deal to broadcast the ESL Pro League live, while Dignitas announced last week that they would be streaming live on Facebook, too.
