Blizzard opens Asian eSports arena

Blizzard has opened its first eSports arena over in Taipei in preparation for its first Asian Overwatch competition.

The arena holds up to 250 spectators and is known as the Blizzard eStadium. It will be used for smaller scale tournaments and it’s probably a safe bet to assume it might get some use once the Overwatch League gets started.

The Overwatch Pacific Championship will be the first event to make use of the arena when it kicks off on April 8th. The top teams from the Asia Pacific region will compete with the winner grabbing a spot at the Overwatch World Cup.

The stadium seems to be on a similar scale to that of the Gfinity Arena, but is seemingly only the start of Blizzard’s plans for eSports venues. With the Overwatch League it sounds like they wish to established bases around the world where teams can play from.
