Lionsgate has become the latest investor in the Immortals organisation, joining the likes of Linkin Park, Memphis Grizzlies co-owner Steve Kaplan and Allen Debevoise, chairman at Machinima.com.
The deal sees Lionsgate throw in a chunk of cash that will be used to fund new content based on the Immortals teams. The companies tech and distribution networks will also be shared with the organisation.
"Lionsgate joins a dream team of media, tech, and traditional sports partners who share our vision of building a dynamic Immortals organization and a strong esports foundation," Immortals chairman Clinton Foy said. "What we're doing today in esports is like the early days of building the NFL and NBA. It's not the evolution of games—it's the evolution of sports, technology, and media."
