OpTic Gaming have announced a deal with Twitch that will see that stream exclusively on the platform.
The move is a positive one for Twitch and OpTic. Twitch can count on the support of OpTic Gaming’s huge social following with OpTic’s fanbase, called the “Green Wall”, lending their support to OpTic’s successful Call of Duty, Halo and Gears of War teams and social media presence. OpTic meanwhile stand to gain an even bigger following as a result of promotion from the monolithic streaming outfit.
John Howell, Twitch’s VP of Global Partnerships, said in a press release: “First and third-person shooters are what jump-started competitive online gaming as a phenomenon and are a catalyst in making esports what it is today. In the last year alone, we have seen shooter-game tournaments set viewership records and contribute to the meteoric rise of new FPS/TPS games on Twitch. By partnering with OpTic Gaming, an acclaimed fixture in the competitive shooter scene, we are able to ensure our large community of shooter game fans don’t have to go far to see the best the genre has to offer.
“OpTic content is curated across multiple platforms, but when it comes to a daily destination for live streaming, we see great value in leveraging Twitch’s strength of bringing gaming communities together,” mentioned Ryan ‘OpTicJ’ Musselman, OpTic’s chief operating officer.
OpTic are mostly known for their efforts in console, although they have a NA Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster, a team with varying success.
