Gamers in China about to be given the gift of Overwatch next month, with the entire game being free to play for the entirety of May.
The full game will be free, although free players will be locked out of competitive mode to avoid free players messing with the balance of ranks. Players will be able to enjoy Quick Play, AI matches, the arcade and even custom games will all be available.
Also, if you decide to buy the game at any stage, your levels, loot and statistics will transfer to the full game as long as you use the same account. It seems like a good deal for people in China who are on the fence about whether or not Overwatch is right for them, and to take part all you need to do is register for a Blizzard account and install their game client.
Sadly, this won’t give players access to the Overwatch Uprising event, which ends on May 1st. However, it’s likely that at least some of the spike in players Overwatch will experience in May will buy the game, which could see the game’s popularity in the region grow substantially.
