Andrew Pruett, former global head of publisher relations and business development for Apple’s mobile advertising division, has been unveiled as the new CEO of NRG eSports.
After more than a decade working in advertising, sales, and business development Pruett will now manage the eSports organisation full time. Having worked at companies such as Apple, Disney and Quattro Wireless, which was founded and owned by NRG co-owner Andy Miller, this will be Pruett’s first role in eSports, but he told ESPN that he is looking forward to the challenge.
“I am honored to join and work alongside the best in class business leadership, spanning traditional sports, marketing, media, technology, entrepreneurship and eSports athletes,” said Pruett. “It’s beyond exciting to be at the forefront of this phenomenal tidal wave of a new generation of sports enthusiasts! There’s a lot to do and I’m ready to hit the ground running to build a leading brand and winning culture at NRG.”
NRG has quickly established itself as one of the larger US based eSports organisations, with teams in League of Legends and CS:GO. The LoL team managed to claim 5th/6th place in the NA LCS Spring Split, while their CS:GO counterparts are currently 5th in the ESL Pro League NA division.
