StarCraft II pro player Sasha "Scarlett" Hostyn is officially the highest earning female eSports player ever.
The Guinness World Records has given Scarlett the record of “Highest career earnings for a competitive videogame player (female),” with a total of $144,414 in winnings, as of October 5th 2016. Last year the award was given to Katherine "Mystik" Gunn.
Scarlett also holds the record for most eSports tournament results by a female gamer.
The StarCraft player has been around the scene for a number of years and has consistently had good results. Playing as Zerg Scarlett has defeated many of the top Korean players and is the only female player to defeat a male opponent in a pro StarCraft II match on South Korean television.
The Guinness World Records has also given a few other eSports stars some recognition this year with Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios grabbing the record for the longest winning streak in Super Smash Bros. tournaments and Sumail "Suma1L" Hassan Syed grabbing an award for being the youngest gamer to earn $1 million in esports winnings.
