Cloud9 has announced that they will not be competing at the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice later this month, partly due to the new US travel restrictions.
According to the announcement from IEM, Cloud9 have chosen not to travel over to Poland to compete in order to focus on their run in the North American LCS. One major concern of the organisation was that as over 60% of its staff are foreigners working on a US visa, and they may not be allowed re entry into the states with Trump’s current travel restrictions.
Of course this is an understandable decision. Cloud 9 are currently dominating the NA LCS and look set to at least make the playoffs if not win the entire thing. Losing a key member of staff or at worst even a player, because they were refused entry into the States would be disastrous and could be the end of their good run of form.
Cloud 9’s replacement for IEM Katowice will be announced in the coming days.
